THE HOUSE

Surrounded by the vineyards of the Côtes de Luberon, within the borough of Gordes, you'll find Villa Gambetta: an oasis in the triangle of Gordes, Menerbes and Bonnieux. This magnificent villa with pool is in a stunning location with excellent privacy, yet close to the lively Provencal village of St-Saturnin-lès-Apt, right in the heart of beautiful Luberon Natural Park.

The villa dates from the mid 70's but has been recently thoroughly renovated. It has been built on a hill with a southwest orientation, and has been designed in such a way as to invite natural light and views of the gorgeous surroundings. This has resulted in light and airy high-ceilinged rooms, which all overlook the surrounding countryside and the village of St-Saturnin. The covered terraces surrounding the house do nicely frame the views of the Luberon mountains, providing even more perspective. This particular location in the Luberon National Park can only be called exceptional!

During the extensive renovation first class materials were used and combined with authentic regional building practices. This has resulted in beautiful Provencal ceilings, beam structures, bespoke cupboards and a large Provencal fireplace. Villa Gambetta is a subtle blend of authentic Provencal elements and modern day comforts.

Villa Gambetta's layout is as follows:

GROUND FLOOR

Entree with vestiaire, dining room adjacent to fully equipped kitchen, living room with beautiful fireplace. From the living room and the kitchen several double doors lead to the partly covered terraces surrounding a large part of the house. The central hallway leads to bedroom I, bedroom II with en suite bathroom with walk in shower, WC across the hall, master bedroom with walk in closet and bathroom en suite with bath, Italian shower, bidet and WC.

Fixed stairs between the living room and dining room lead to the 'Rez de Jardin':

GARDEN LEVEL

Hallway, large bedroom with en suite bathroom with walk in shower and WC. Second bathroom with shower, sauna and WC, for use by bedroom I. Fully equipped summer kitchen. Doors from the kitchen lead to a covered terrace, with access to the garden and pool.

The slightly hilly garden with a total surface of 6.000 m² is completely fenced off. The garden has several partially covered terraces with a total surface in excess of 145m². Access is through a beautiful driveway and a large electric entrance gate. The landscaped garden contains Mediterranean herbs, plants and trees and has a high level of privacy.

In the garden you'll find the large heated pool (10 x 6m), several terraces and little seating areas. A special mention deserves the large South facing terrace with bar, very pleasant for watching the sun setting over the Luberon mountains and the village of St-Saturnin.

LOCATION

Villa Gambetta is situated at walking distance from the charming village of St-Saturnin-lès-Apt, where you will find shops, restaurants and bars.

The house is about 50 kilometers east of Avignon, just 15 minutes from Bonnieux, Gordes and Roussillon. Marseille Airport is at about an hour's drive. It's 30 mins. from L'Isle sur la Sorgue (famous for its antique shops) and 50 minutes from Aix en Provence. You'll find a 18-hole golf course near Saumane, at 35 km, and there's a pitch-and-put at 4 km.

~ REVIEWS ~

We did have a very nice stay in the Villa Gambetta. We had a warm welcome with a bunch of flowers and fresh fruit which was lovely. The house was spotless, the garden and pool were very tidy. We were impressed by the increadibly well equipped kitchen as well as the tasteful dishes which make guests handle things with care - hopefully. We loved the beautiful sitting areas outside of which each one was special, the summer kitchen was perfect. There was nothing we missed during our week there. We would definitely stay again in the Villa Gambetta.

Our stay at Villa Gambetta was absolutely amazing! The villa was spacious, clean, and absolutely stunning! The owners appointed this home perfectly. Our stay which included 5 adults was memorable. Location also was exceptional. Thank you for a wonderful time!

The house was probably the loveliest house that I have ever rented. Beautiful in itself and a beautiful setting, it was the ultimate escape. I have never been to such lovely house and such a well equipped house and I really appreciated all the small touches, it felt like a home and there was no stone unturned in terms of the thought that has obviously gone into renting a house for holiday guests. I think the owners' generosity in providing such a lot in a house is to be applauded and seems to me that this is rare. I also appreciated the information regarding local restaurants and local attractions. Sadly I didn’t read all of it possibly as we only discovered the chateau and old monument at the top of st Saturnin the day before we left. It was wonderful however to be able to walk into the town and we enjoyed the market and lunch at le Saint Hubert. I don't have a bad word to say, I cannot think of anything that you need to do to make the experience and the house any better. I would dearly love to come back one day!

Our family enjoyed a truly wonderful two- week holiday at Villa Gambetta, one which we have all looked forward to for a long time. The villa is immediately welcoming and exudes character and charm. It is very well equipped with all the things you could want for a perfect holiday and many thoughtful additional touches. As for location, it would have been impossible to imagine a more perfect spot, in the middle of gorgeous countryside but only a shortish walk to a beautiful vibrant village. Many thanks to you all for making our stay so memorable!

The overall opinion on this house is very positive: we had a wonderful holiday in this magnificent place. The positives: landscape, calm, space, the quality of service and equipment available. I highly recommend this place!

We spent two wonderful weeks together in the beautiful Villa Gambetta. The house is really beautiful, very tastefully decorated, absolutely clean and equipped with everything you could want. If you have a nice home yourself, you wish you didn't have to compromise on vacation. We have succeeded in this completely at Villa Gambetta. Even the rainy evenings on the covered terrace were very entertaining while browsing through the many travel and cookbooks. The outdoor facilities are very well maintained and the pool is large enough for daily morning exercise. We really enjoyed our time at Villa Gambetta and will definitely come back again!

We have just returned from a wonderful week staying in the luxurious Villa Gambetta. This property is simply amazing - from the views to every little detail both inside and in the gardens. This house really has the wow factor! We had a very friendly welcome by the house keeper upon arrival and the welcome flowers, fresh fruit and wine were a lovely touch. The interior of the villa is beautifully appointed and all the rooms very comfortable. Outside there are so many places where you can sit and marvel at the amazing views, from the terraces with tables, the hammocks in the shade to the corner sofa on the decking. We were travelling with 3 teenagers who loved the pool (heated) and hot tub and everything that Villa Gambetta had to offer. The villa is equipped with a modern kitchen, huge fridge and the summer kitchen on the garden level by the pool was an added bonus. This was great for the evenings when we barbecued (weber gas bbq). We have visited the Luberon many times over the years but had never discovered St Saturnin les Apt before now. The village is a real gem - quiet and calm even though it was August. There are 3 or 4 really decent restaurants and bars, 2 bakeries, a great butchers and a grocery that is really well stocked. The village is a mere 2 minute drive from the villa and we loved the fact that we were just outside and could look down upon this very pretty village. We can’t thank the owners enough for letting us share their beautiful villa. We will be back!

What a beautiful place Villa Gambetta is. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Gambetta, it was too short, but I'm not sure any amount of time at Gambetta could be long enough. Gambetta is blessed with amazing views that you couldn't get tired of. Everything has been thought of and looked after at Gambetta, from the wine on arrival through to the sauna, spa and heated pool. The kitchen was modern and indoor area takes advantage of the setting. Relaxing on the wrap around balcony became a bit of a ritual to take in those spectacular views, maybe after a stroll into town to the bakery. We loved the walk up to the old monument at the top of st Saturnin - the walk would have been great with either a picnic or finishing up in town for a bite. We would love to return one day and tried to find ways of not leaving. A beautiful property, thank you!

Our family had an amazing week in beautiful Villa Gambetta. The house was beyond our expectations and the setting overlooking the valley was magnificent. Everything about the house was so well thought out with wonderful large modern kitchen and weber barbecue and another downstairs kitchen for evening cooking. The wrap around terrace meant that sitting outside was a pleasure at all times of the day and evening. There were so many lovely places to sit around the gardens and the pool and hot tub were essential for cooling off as we had very hot weather in the last week of August. We loved the village of St. Saturnin des Apt with the local restaurants, markets, bakeries, boucherie and bars. We had a magical, fun and relaxing week and we would love to make a return visit. Thanks so much for everything!!

The house far exceeded our expectations. It is perfectly located in a private area that has beautiful scenery, but close enough to St Saturnin to allow for a healthy walk into town. More importantly, the attention to detail and thought that has gone into the house to make it as comfortable as possible was amazing. From the detailed house manual, to the summer kitchen by the pool, to the display lights in the garden being linked to the remote control. Add to that the amazing pool area, jacuzzi patio, sauna, and even the boules court. We enjoyed all of it. The rooms were spacious and the fittings and furniture were beautiful. It really felt like the owners had poured their hearts and souls into their dream house to make it as comfortable and special as possible. Villa Gambetta was the highlight, by a long way, of our visit to France.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Villa Gambetta. The kitchen and lounge rooms were very user friendly with everything we needed. The seperate bedroom with bathroom and kitchen was perfect for my parents. We all very much enjoyed the use of the pool and in particular the verandah with spectacular views. Whilst there my husband and i enjoyed several hikes in the hills around St Saturnin les Apt the town itself was perfect for all food needs. We were all very comfortable and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Thank you so much!

The villa and our stay there was amazing and this in so many ways: - the views: even though already very impressive, the pictures on the website can still not do justice to the numerous incredible views from so many places at the villa. We enjoyed them all. - the villa: beautiful and very tasteful decorated with nice attention spent on details all over the place. The whole felt very spacious with lots of light from all sides and great materials used. The kitchen was fantastically equipped and the summer kitchen was a pure delight. But what really captured our hearts was the overall welcome and efforts which were made to make us feel at home which we found at every turn of the head or each time we opened a cupboard; e.g. hairdryers in each bathroom, clean towels in every size, herbs, olive oil, in short all basic necessities were supplied without us having to purchase these on arrival. Furthermore, the typical beautiful shopping baskets were on display for us to use and even a large collection of superbe panama hats were provided for us to make use of if so wished for. We so enjoyed these when going to the local markets...the beautiful and abundance of cutlery and glasses which were provided for our use, the tech facilities made available and also the elaborate 'mini' guide to the Provence with spot on info on local markets in every village, restaurants etc.. We felt as if good friends allowed us to stay at their beautiful home and went out of their way to make our stay as comfortable as possible. We take back many treasured memories from our stay at villa Gambetta and thank the owners deeply for their willingness to share such a fantastic home. We cannot wait to return...

Its great to be back at Villa Gambetta! Days are just flying by. The garden is wonderful and we often enjoy a nice barbecue in the evening. My sister and family are as impressed by the nice house as we always are. Thank you for sharing it with us! With warm regards,

We have recently spent the most wonderful two weeks at the above property and we can only say that everything about the property was absolutely perfect. From the moment we walked in the door and were welcomed by a lovely bottle of wine, fruit and flowers we continued to be totally impressed by everything about the property. Apart from the fact that the actual property is beautiful it was the myriad little touches that impressed us and made our stay so enjoyable. We would happily book the property again and would recommend highly!

We so enjoyed our holiday in your beautiful home, we wished we could have stayed longer! Your home is spectacular, so comfortable, beautifully furnished and very generously stocked. So many places to relax (I think we sampled most of them!). We had many wonderful meals around the dining table - this place will remain in my memories as exceptional. Thankyou very much!

The house is simply marvelous and we got way more than we hoped for. Not only is the house well maintained and clean, but everything you need is available from WiFi to kitchen appliances and everything in between. I can’t find anything negative to say about the property!

We stayed in this beautiful villa for two weeks with our family and had the most wonderful holiday. The owners of this villa have thought of absolutely everything- beautiful abundant dinnerware and glasses-fabulous kitchen and appliances- gorgeous comfortable lounges everywhere. Little nooks and crannies where you read a book in the shady garden. We hardly went out except to buy delicious produce to cook in the to die for kitchen. You feel spoilt and indulged in every room you enter. The views are stunning, thestaff attached to the house are just lovely and nothing is too much trouble. The pool is heated and sparkling and while not fenced has a proper hard cover you can activate when not using. A short walk downhill to the village and you have the best croissants in Provence. I am yearning to be back in Provence!
