On a hilltop above Gordes stands this impressive bastide, with the traditional honey colored stone walls of Provence. This extraordinary home was built on the foundations of a building that belonged to the 12th century Abbaye of Senanque, and is surrounded by 70 acres of unspoiled forest, fruit and almond trees, truffle oaks and fields of lavender. The magnificent views are uninterrupted across national forests to Cezanne's beloved Mount Saint Victoire.
Villa Grand Gordes and its tour offer the seclusion of a countryside estate but is nevertheless only a few minutes away from one of France most gorgeous villages. It is an hours drive from Marseille’s Marignane airport and 45 mins from Aix-en-Provence's TGV station.
Almost hidden, the property stands at the end of a long driveway. As you drive off the main road onto the private gravel drive you descend into a small valley, past a 500 year old oak tree that guards the approach to this stunning home.
The first impression is truly breathtaking. From the central round tower, two large wings open to welcome you into an atmosphere of elegant serenity. Lots of thought and care have gone into the interior decorations, and Villa Grand Gordes positively exudes an atmosphere of harmony and style.
The professional kitchen is equipped with a Lacanche cooker and has all further appliances necessary to test your mastery of French cuisine. The spacious living areas all have access to outside terraces, which offer breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside.
The spacious bedrooms, mostly located on the first floor, are all decorated with taste. There's a fitness room with access to the north terrace, and of course the large pool offers exceptional views.
Villa Grand Gordes is layed out as follows:
Large stone hall, cloakroom, guest toilet. Spacious living area (60m²) opening onto a large covered terrace, both with panoramic views of the pool and the Luberon mountains. Large dining area with fireplace, professional kitchen with access to covered terrace. TV/game room, utility room, laundry room. Fitness room with glass windows, outside terrace.

We had a fantastic stay. The house is amazing and was perfect for our famliy. Although we couldn't sit outside in the beautiful garden (it must be a dream, when the lavendel fields blooming as well as the roses surrounding the house), we enjoyed it so much to sit at the dining table in front of the fire place. The handover of the house was perfectly organized. The house is perfectly equiped as well - you directly recognize, that the owners use the house themselves. Thanks again!

We were all delighted with our stay at Villa Grand Gordes. Magnificent site, very beautiful house perfectly adapted to the reception of about fifteen people. It is well decorated and does not make you think of a hotel formula, everyone can find a quieter place and isolate themselves a little if desired. The villa is well equipped and we found everything we needed. (Which is rare believe in our experience). The swimming pool was appreciated, the aperitifs taken on the terrace at sunset too. We will surely come back.

We were very happy with our stay in Grand Gordes. It was a very peaceful vacation, the home is really very nice and charming and all the rooms in different ways very interesting. The caretaker was a very kind person and always ready to help. Very good place for landing with the helicopter by the way. I hope we can spend another good time in the villa!

We had a wonderful time at villa Grand Gordes, really superb! The beautiful house and garden with pool, the rooms are much larger and nicer as we thought they would be, fabulous! All villages are very nearby...but the best is...to sit on the terrace overlooking the pool and enjoy Provence!

We have stayed here for the last two years and have already booked our next years visit. The house is peacefully situated in its own extensive grounds. The low key entrance drive leads you up to one of the most stunning houses in Provence. Ideally situated for exploring the area whetherby car (which is essential), on a bike, or just walking straight out into the wonderful National Park with its miles of tracks through the forest. The views from the house are stunning with the beautifully designed infinity pool looking like a natural pond when seen from the terrace. Inside the house is tastefully decorated extremely comfortable and well equipped. Fans are provided in all the rooms and even in hot weather the thick walls and well maintained shutters keep the house pleasantly cool. The spotlessly clean and spacious rooms allow 16 people to reside in great comfort. Most of the bedrooms have their own bathrooms. Whether eating indoors in the dining room or outside, there is ample room for a large party. The staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. We were a group of friends from Ireland, Northern Ireland, France, Scotland and England and everyone who stayed with us agreed that it would be hard to find a more perfect house to stay in. The house is situated less than ten minutes from Gordes and 20 minutes from Coustellet which has a very good larger supermarket, fishmonger, bank etc. There is so much to see and do in the surrounding area, whether "antique-ing" in the huge Sunday market in L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, lunching above the source of the river in Fontaine-de-Vaucluse, buying artist's materials in Roussillon, or walking down to a service in L'Abbey de Senanque, that we would love to be able to stay longer and are already counting the months until our return.
