Villa Voltaire is an ancient high-end 3-bedroom village house on top of a medieval city wall, offering one of the most stunning views of Provence. The house is perched on the hillside of the picturesque village of Bonnieux, overlooking the Luberon massif all the way from Lacoste to the left up to Goult to the right, with spectacular sunsets every evening. The views can be enjoyed from the 2-level terrace garden, the dipping pool and from almost every area in the house. Villa Voltaire is fully air-conditioned.
Once you open the front door you will experience a modern aesthetic married to ancient 'pierres apparentes' stone walls. You walk into a large salon/lounge area around an old fireplace, with a dining table that seats up to 8. The salon area offers truly stunning views of the surroundings. Steps lead down to the fully equipped kitchen with marble-top work island, American fridge-freezer with ice and water, wall-mounted oven and microwave, 5 ring gas stove, dishwasher and a Nespresso-machine.
There are two ancient centuries-old staircases leading to the 1st and the upper floors, offering three bedrooms and a library/television room.
Bedroom 1 is accessible by its own stairs located in a medieval tower, with a lookout point with good views of Mt Ventoux. This bedroom has a king-size bed (180cm) that can be made up as 2 single beds. The bathroom has a shower and wash basin and a separate toilet, behind a divider.
Bedroom 2 offers a king-size bed (180cm) including an en suite bathroom with a walk-in shower, basin and toilet.
Adjacent to bedroom 2 is the library/television room with writing desk and again stunning views of the Luberon massif.
Bedroom 3 is the master suite on the upper floor. It offers a king-size bed (180cm), with a bathroom containing a walk-in shower, basin and a separate toilet. On this level you will find a single bedroom as well, connected to the master suite.
Outside you'll have a private terrace garden with two levels. On the main salon level you can enjoy breakfast and dinner. The lower level offers a dipping pool for cooling off in summer, surrounded by a large lounge space under a lush arbor. From the lower level there is a shortcut to the kitchen. Just accross the road from the house is a lockable cave to store your bikes.
Villa Voltaire is located in the famous Provencal village of Bonnieux, where you'll find restaurants, bars and shops. The major sights in Provence and the villages of Gordes, Roussillon, Menerbes and Goult are all within striking distance. It is a 55 minutes drive from Marseille–Marignane airport, 35 minutes from Avignon, 1 hour from the sea and 50 minutes from Aix-en-Provence. You'll find a 18-hole golf course near Saumane, at 27 km.

The accommodation was fabulous and exceeded our expectations. We booked it based on the excellent pictures of the house but when you see it in real life it is even more impressive. It was ina perfect place in town and we loved hanging outside on the patio looking over the valley. The caretaker was very nice and accommodating. He met us and checked us in as arranged and was always available if required which was a comforting thing. We really loved the area as well and will be back....hopefully with some friends which we have been boring with our stories!!

This house is in a picturesque quiet village in the centre of petit Provence which has been thoughtfully renovated, is as pictured and even better in real life. We loved the personal touches and the different areas around the house to lounge in whilst taking in the amazing view across to Goult and Lacoste etc, albeit a few stairs. Big study room and lounge for those in the family that bring work with them! Comfy beds, quality linens and the biggest showers made sleep easy after a few rose on the outside entertaining area overlooking the pool. Well equipped supermarket, boulangerie, restaurants (Le Fournil our fav) all walking distance, but more choices in bigger villages like Lourmarin Gordes etc close by. Close by is Coustellet for bigger choice of retailers re: fruit veg etc and market. We would love to come back again to enjoy this place more!

The house is really a must! Tastefully decorated, very neat, perfectly located close to the shops and restaurants, not to mention the beautiful view. The owner is the perfect host and clearly explains everything and anything. I can only recommend it!

The location is in the middle of the town. All shops / restaurants etc. are within walking distance. Nevertheless it was very quiet. The house is chic without overdoing it. Kitchen is perfectly furnished. The owner is an excellent host, questions will be answered promptly.

This house is simply magnificent! Of the different places that we have been able to rent, both in France and abroad, this is truly the most beautiful! Everything is perfect: the high level of comfort, the sublime decoration, tasteful and elaborated with noble materials; the layout is perfect, functional and complete; high-end finishings and appliances. The view from the large terrace is simply magical from morning until sunset (a beautiful show every evening). From its dominant position, Bonnieux is perfectly located and central for visiting the most beautiful villages of the Luberon. The shops in the old village all are very close on foot and are very well stocked, with correct prices. The caretaker wasparticularly attentive and considerate, we received a friendly and high quality welcome! In short: a stay without any false note, in an exceptional place that we highly recommend, you will not be disappointed!
